Belly To Butterfly

Guest writer! Yay!

I happen to think this particular person rocks the casbah. She’s incredibly funny (as you’ll find out), smart and artistic. She’s also my sister, which makes me biased. But still. She rocks.

She became a mom on July 18, 2009, and I think her perspective on motherhood as a first-timer slogging through the trenches will be a wonderful addition to pretty*swell.

Her contributions will be labeled “Belly to Butterfly.” She created this title, she said, to represent the change and growth (and possibilities) in life after having a baby.

Without further ado, meet the brains (and beauty) behind “Belly to Butterfly.”

Up, up and away!

My name is Laura, and I’m a new mom. That’s about as much “about me” as I can manage these days.

Okay, I can do a little better.

I’m:

  1. A Gemini.
  2. An introvert.
  3. A creative dabbler (including as some time or another: sewing, pottery, sculpting, sticker art, three songs on the guitar, piano, film-making, knitting, painting (both of walls and canvas), resurrecting embarrassing photos of family and friends to use for their birthday cards, stage managing, cooking/baking, writing, dance (tap, jazz and ballet) and collecting glass bottles).
  4. Into movies … although after two years of attempting to get “into the business” in L.A. realized that I’d rather be a part of the local film movement and more meaningful projects.
  5. A sister, daughter, wife, mother, granddaughter, aunt, cousin, niece, friend and current benefactor of the unemployment system.

Hi Laura,

What a hoot to have both nieces on the same blog. I am so computer illiterate that opening my email is a major chore- so this two for one deal on this site is great. Good luck to you both and kiss all the cheeks on Small Fry and O for me. XXXOOO Aunt Mary Lou

Laura dear,
This is really new for me also. I just read Suzanne’s blog today and loved it and now I can find you, too.
I am so impressed with the use of words, the great phrases and the clever bits and pieces. The photos that are included are special.
Seeing the babies in the photos makes the blog doubly wonderful. Continue your loving journey and thanks for letting me be a part. Love, Nana
