We have the most ridiculously beautiful, HUGE hydrangea bush growing along the side of our house. And the blooms are like none other that I’ve seen, in pink-purple clusters that grow bigger than my head.
I love, LOVE this plant.
So does Small Fry. Especially when the petals stick to her little fingers.

I took these shots on a dewy morning in June, when the petals were morphing from chartreuse to purple and the clusters were just starting to balloon. We’ve been clipping off small bouquets for inside, and they bring so much cheer. Nothing makes me happier to walk into a dirty kitchen than fresh-cut flowers on the table.
While Small Fry and I were in Ohio, Marc texted me a picture of one of the clusters, and it took up the entire screen.
Best love note ever.

I Love those as well. I have many planted in my yard. My only complaint is that they are somewhat picky. Yours looks like it LOVES where it is at.
thenextmartha: yep, we got lucky. the people who lived here before us landscaped beautifully. we just try hard not to kill everything. :)
Beautiful! We just planted 4 hydrangea bushes in our front beds a couple months ago. They are small now but I can’t wait for them to take over in the years to come!
Hydrangeas were the theme for my wedding! LOVE them!
If you hang fresh ones upside down, they dry really nicely for year-round arrangements.
Mrs. MidAtlantic: thanks for the tip on drying them! so cool!
